Josephine Baker brought the Charleston to Berlin in the Golden Twenties. Boogie-woogie originated in the United States during the same period, spread to Germany in the mid-1940s, and infected an entire generation of young people with dance fever to the fast rhythms of swing, jazz, and rock “n” roll. These and other dance styles are experiencing a revival at the Wild Matilde.
Musicians create the right atmosphere at the microphone, piano, saxophone or turntables. They provide background music, are part of the variety programme or take centre stage and play a concert. Styles: swing, jazz, chanson, lounge.
The artists at Wilde Matilde love bright colours. The costumes are lovingly selected and constantly changing. Their outfits and wigs in bright colours are entirely in keeping with the Wilde Matilde style, with its chain carousel bar and pink Rococo furniture.

The story of Wilde Matilde
The old Berlin Madame remembers the time of her carefree childhood, when she was a little girl with windblown hair and her beloved sugar confections sitting on the back of a carousel horse.
A frollein between the fine patisserie of the famous Café Bauer, where she worked, and the wild nightlife of the pulsating big city, where she hired herself out as a burlesque and beauty dancer to support her old mom and little brother. Berlin soon became too small for the “saucy moth with a heart and a snout” and so she went out into the wide world – into the colorful world of the circus, the fairs and the tingling.
From the chain carousel, the sugar mamsel made the little children happy, until her thirst for action and curiosity brought her back to her beloved Berlin.
